Anyone can join the project: the owner own business, director, creator of street art objects or founder of a surf school - the main thing is that he should work in his region and make the life of people around him better.

It is not at all necessary to live or work in the capital in order to achieve success, the organizers of the project believe. There have already been several people from different parts of Russia who prove this by their example. They have become ambassadors of the project and by their example invite as many people as possible to participate. So Denis Umutbaev revives the Bashkir breed of horses near Ufa, Kostas Marsan makes films about the nature of his native Yakutia, and Natalia Nikitina opened the Kolomenskaya Pastila Museum, the traditional taste of which was almost forgotten.

There are things that seem almost impossible: for example, to establish a surf school in Kamchatka or to shoot a Hollywood movie in Yakutia, but without a Hollywood budget. And there are people who, in various parts of Russia, implement excellent projects every day, despite any difficulties. It is for such people that today we launched a project"Away from the capitals" .

"Away from the capitals" -a project that we are doing with the support of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. With the help of Google services - Maps and Search - we have created a platform for the whole of Russia to learn about people whose ideas change life outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg for the better.Any resident of the region can become the hero of our project, whether it is the owner of his own business, the creator of street art objects, a woodworker or a clothing designer. The main thing is that his business should benefit and develop the city (and maybe even a village or village) that he loves.

If you or your friends have created a business that you can be proud of, go to and talk about it. Applications will be accepted until October 3 inclusive. Applications can be submitted in seven categories: Russian tourism, manufacturing and crafts, training and development, social services, sports and healthy lifestyles, culture, and modern technologies. After moderation, your story will be published on the site, and the information will be available on Google Maps.

And here is what the Far from the Capitals jury members say about the project:

Ilya Lagutenko, musician:“From Moscow to beloved Vladivostok is more than nine thousand kilometers. One can only guess how many talented people live in this vast territory. And even if some of these people tell about their affairs through the Google project “Far from the capitals”, we will learn a lot of amazing things about their country. I'm glad to be a part of this project. Participate!».

Svetlana Chupsheva, General Director of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives:“ASI supports those who are looking for an opportunity to implement their ideas in business, social, cultural and scientific fields. Every day number promising projects, which are created in the regions, is increasing, and this is wonderful! We hope that with the help of the Far from the Capitals project we will be able to inspire people to start implementing their ideas, and we are very happy to be a part of it.”.

Egor Konchalovsky, director and producer:« I agreed to take part in this project because I am very curious to know what heroes (and I am sure there are many!) live and work in modern Russia. Without scenery and Hollywood budgets, they create something new and vibrant here, rather than go abroad. It is good that now there is an interest and a desire to give development to talented undertakings in their own land. The project is also interesting from an educational point of view».

Valentin Petukhov, Russia's chief tech blogger ( aka Wylsacom): “In Far from the Capitals, I look forward to bold technical solutions and innovations. It's great to collect all projects on one interactive map of Russia. I promise to choose the coolest and most impressive and tell about it!”.

The contestants break stereotypes. For example, they surf in Kamchatka, restore and taste history, and make their cities even more beautiful.

Participant of the competition "Far from the capitals": "With the help of street art, we create a favorable environment for life and creativity in Vladivostok."

And the contestants also make films of Hollywood scale, but with a much more modest budget, produce microphones used by world rock stars, help the disadvantaged. Their ideas change lives for the better. And they are convinced that in order to become recognized and in demand, it is not at all necessary to conquer Moscow and St. Petersburg. "Far from the capitals" is a large-scale project of the world's largest search engine Google with the support of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives.

Dmitry Kuznetsov, Google marketing director in Russia: “We don’t have special requirements for potential participants project, it can be any person who is active in his city, village, township. The main thing is that it is necessary for the place where he lives, to be beneficial.”

Those who are ready to discover something new away from the capitals will find a place based on maps and Google search. The finalists will be selected by a jury, which includes well-known TV presenters, artists, and businessmen.

In two weeks, dozens of regions of Russia have already been marked on the map of the Far from the Capitals project - from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka. There are seven categories in total: tourism, craft, education, social services, sports and a healthy lifestyle, culture, modern technologies. Applications are accepted until October 3rd.

It will be super competitive. After all, each participant put his soul into his projects. Do many cities have vending machines for old things? But the authors of the Chelyabinsk project "Veshchevorot" figured out how to make waste-free production out of this, and at the same time clothe those in need. Or, for example, the village of Tygydym in the Yaroslavl region. There, Alexander and Olesya, as they say, out of the blue revived ancient traditions villages. After all, someone has forgotten what it is to take care of the housework, and young people do not know at all.

Olesya Degtyareva: “We transported ancient objects, 200-year-old barns, houses, outbuildings. We are recreating traditions. And most importantly, we find people who keep a lot of secrets, such that our children should not forget.

The jury will select the strongest entries. Then the fate of the contestants will be decided by Internet users. To vote, it is enough to enter the query "Far from the capitals" in the Google search bar. Our TV company became the media partner of the project. NTV host Vadim Takmenev also joined the jury.

NTV has its own nomination in the project. 10 bright applications from residents of Russian cities and villages will be selected. All on the same site of the project it will be possible to learn about the results.

And NTV is also launching a flash mob: let's evaluate the history of a particular project on our page in social networks with the hashtag #There is something to be proud of. Best videos will be put into rotation in the social networks of the TV company under the heading #For a Minute. The names of the winners of the Far from Capitals project will be announced by the organizers in early November.

The goal is to find active, talented and caring people living outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg, and make their projects known throughout the country.

The organizers are looking for people who care about the world around them and who independently or together with like-minded people try to change it for the better.

To become a participant, you need to fill out an application on the project platform and talk about how you develop your city, town or village. After moderation, the application will be published on the site, and the information will be available on Google Maps.
