What it is?

The Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity of the EAEU is a product nomenclature for maintaining externally economic activity on the territory of the EAEU. The code itself from this document includes ten digits. The following algorithm is used for decryption:

• the first four digits of the code indicate that the product belongs to one of the groups;
• the next six digits specifically identify the product according to its name.

As an example, we can cite the motor oil code of the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity, which is written as 2710198200 and 3403199000.

Knowing the correct classification of goods, you can calculate the amount of payments in the process customs clearance, and also what required documents will have to be provided to allow the import of products.

The basic rule for determining the group of goods according to the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity

In order to classify products in the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity, there are several important rules and features for each product. However, the main provisions of the classification are the following parameters:

• Any name of a subgroup, section or group of goods is given solely for the convenience of using the nomenclature.
• When classifying products in a nomenclature for legal purposes, it is necessary to rely on the text commodity item, as well as the corresponding notes that may go to the group or section, unless these texts provide otherwise.

Unfortunately, it will not provide information on the name of the product in the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity.

OKPD code 2

In order to classify products manufactured on the territory of the Russian Federation, there is a national classifier of goods called OKPD 2. This document specifies the all-Russian standards included in unified system standardization and assignment of unique codes for information on products related to the social and technical-economic sphere. The data contained in this document can be used to classify goods in any field of activity.

The current regulatory legal act was approved 4 years ago. This document replaced identical classifiers that had been in force since 1993 and 2007. And employees of the Ministry of Economic Development worked on the creation of updated documentation.

At the core all-Russian classifier there is a structuring of information in accordance with the statistical classification of goods by type of activity operating in the territory of the EAEU since the exit previous version document. By the way, codes were transferred from it, up to the sixth digit, as well as descriptions of products corresponding to these codes. However, there are also product names for which the features will be reflected by changing groupings based on the classification in force in European countries.

Among the features of OKPD 2, it is worth noting a significant increase in the level of detail, since this document includes 21 sections versus 17 that were in the 2007 regulatory legal acts.

In addition, the number of groupings was halved, and the letters that designate sections of the classifier do not take part in the coding of goods.
