In the Brest region the worst financial situation Zhabinkovsky district is located. The net loss of enterprises in this region for January-March amounted to BYN 13.6 million. The Zhabinkovsky sugar factory operates in the area, which has a hard time competing with cheap imported sugar.

Losses of unprofitable enterprises of the Zhabinkovsky district in the 1st quarter were equal to BYN 16.7 million. The amount of losses compared to 2017 increased by as much as 99 times.

In the Vitebsk region, Novopolotsk enterprises suffer colossal losses - BYN 102.8 million. One of the two oil refineries in Belarus, Naftan, operates in Novopolotsk. Naftan belongs to the state and, in addition to unprofitable shipments of gasoline and diesel fuel to the domestic market, subsidizes petrochemical enterprises with raw materials at special prices.

The losses of unprofitable enterprises in Novopolotsk in the 1st quarter amounted to BYN 115.7 million. Therefore, Naftan can safely be called the most unprofitable company in the country in January-March.

In the Gomel region, the only region that operated at a loss in January-March was the Gomel district (51.1 million BYN). Losses of unprofitable companies in the Gomel region amounted to BYN 58.2 million and increased by 23 times by 2017.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, African swine fever is raging in the area. It is impossible to say for sure about the presence of ASF, since after the Gomel incident the authorities classified data on the number of pigs in the regions.

Things are not going well in the formerly super-profitable Mozyr region. If in January-March 2017 the region received a net profit of 90.8 million BYN, then in 3 months of 2018 it was only 2.6 million BYN. The losses of unprofitable enterprises in the district amounted to BYN 31 million in the 1st quarter and increased by 9 times by 2017.

On the territory of the Mozyr region there is an oil refining giant - the Mozyr Oil Refinery. The plant has problems similar to those of Naftan. True, the losses of the Mozyr enterprise are smaller - there are no shipments of raw materials for petrochemicals with losses for the refinery.

In the Svetlogorsk district, the updated Svetlogorsk Central Control Commission was somehow launched. Instead of losses of BYN 8.1 million in 2017, the region received a profit of BYN 13.5 million in 2018.

IN Grodno region the most problematic region from a financial point of view is Volkovysk. Losses of enterprises in the region for 3 months of 2018 amounted to 10.7 million BYN, including unprofitable companies - 21.6 million BYN. In the area there is a cement production enterprise - Krasnoselskstroymaterialy.

The losses of the Grodno region are clearly visible. Here, the losses of unprofitable organizations amounted to BYN 12.7 million (an increase of 7 times compared to 2017). The Skidel Sugar Refinery is located in the region.

The Ostrovets district showed explosive growth in profits in January-March 2018 - 44 times to 54.2 million BYN. In parallel, rapid growth in profits was observed in the construction sector of the Grodno region - 346 times to 53.9 million BYN. The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built in the Ostrovetsky district. It follows that large profits belong to construction organizations who are building the station.

In the Minsk region, the leader in profit is the Soligorsk district - 99.8 million BYN. The Belaruskali mines are located in this region.

The profit of Zhodino organizations increased 29 times - to 63.4 million BYN. BELAZ feels great. The products of the Zhodino plant are being torn off by hand all over the world.

At the other pole are the Nesvizh and Slutsk districts. In the first, the losses of organizations for 3 months of 2018 amounted to 10.4 million BYN, in the second - 9.8 million BYN. The losses of unprofitable companies in the Nesvizh region reached 23.1 million BYN, and in the Slutsk region - 14.6 million BYN. The Gorodeya Sugar Refinery operates in the Nesvizh District, and the Slutsk Sugar Refinery operates in the Slutsk District.

In the Mogilev region, the first place in terms of losses in the 1st quarter was taken by Bobruisk (19.9 million BYN). The city's revenue-generating enterprise is Belshina.

Belshina switched to international standards financial statements and accurately reflects losses from investment and financial activities. According to the chairman of the Belneftekhim concern, Igor Lyashenko, Belshina urgently needs restructuring of loans and replenishment of working capital.

Two more districts with large losses are Kostyukovichsky (7.5 million BYN) and Krichevsky (9.5 million BYN). These regions are home to the Belarusian Cement Plant and Krichevcementnoshifer.

The hotel and restaurant business in Minsk is unprofitable. For this type of activity, losses in the 1st quarter amounted to BYN 6.2 million, of which BYN 13.1 million from unprofitable firms.

Profits also fell sharply in the capital transport companies— from 962.5 to 219.8 million BYN. Gazprom’s subsidiary, Gazprom Transgaz Belarus, is responsible for the reduction in profits. At the same time, this “daughter” shares with Belaruskali the first place in net profit nationwide.

In the field of communications in Minsk, one of the mobile operators in Belarus is suffering losses of up to 50 million BYN.

In September, both construction and the electricity sector operated at a loss, with the electricity sector showing the worst result among all types of economic activity.

Construction is one of the few industries in the economy where financial results have worsened compared to 2016, while the number of unprofitable enterprises has increased to the maximum number among all types of economic activity: as of October 1, there were 287 unprofitable enterprises in this area.

In 2016, the maximum number of unprofitable enterprises was in agriculture. This year, agriculture is leading in the number of layoffs of unprofitable enterprises, which was the result of measures to financial recovery this industry.

.

The largest amount of interest payments on loans, as in the previous year, was paid by food industry. This type of activity accounts for 16% of the total amount of funds paid by the country's companies in interest payments. Cement producers paid 116 million less interest on loans compared to 2016. However, this did not lead to gainful employment. On the contrary, the financial situation in the industry has only worsened.

Let us once again pay attention to the situation in agriculture: enterprises in this sector have increased interest payments. A significant portion of loans in this area were issued at preferential interest rates for a long period, and a reduction in the refinancing rate may not have had a significant impact on loan payments.

At the same time, part of the loans was transferred to the category of government obligations under certain conditions and under the control of government agencies. This could lead to improved payment discipline. And the general improvement in the situation in the industry contributed to an increase in payments on problem loans.

Trends:

1. After the end of planned repair work at the refinery, financial indicators industries will be improved. This does not exclude that fuel prices are domestic market will continue to increase to obtain additional funds to continue modernizing the industry.

2. Taking into account the current situation in construction, the state can increase funding for the industry by adjusting the amounts allocated for lending to housing construction.

A favorable situation is developing in the banking system in terms of interest rates, and the prerequisites have been created for the activation of mortgage lending. These measures can correct the dynamics of falling industry indicators. Additional financial assistance to state-owned enterprises cannot be ruled out.

3. Some large private enterprises will be able to replace raising funds through lending by issuing their own bonds for a long period. In turn, this will lead to a slight decrease in the number of reliable borrowers in the banking system.
