  • EE123456785LV – EMS fast delivery starts with the letter E.

The first letter R indicates that the small package is registered, for the parcel there will be the letter C, EMC mail begins with the Latin E. The numbers guarantee the uniqueness of the number. And here last letters determine the country of the postal service from which the parcel was sent.

Latvian Post tracking

International postal tracking from Latvia can be a very useful tool for monitoring the movement of packages. Post statuses will inform you at what stage the shipment is at.

The sender can receive a track number for tracking Latvian Post mail upon registration at the post office. Or register the parcel remotely. But we must remember that electronic registration does not guarantee that the sender will send the package. In the first case, the physical transfer of the item occurs immediately, so information about the number of the postal item is entered into the tracking system very quickly and the recipient can immediately see the status of acceptance of the IPO for shipment.

“Latvian Post” is the national telecom operator of the Republic of Latvia. This is an open joint stock company state form property that specializes in providing postal, philatelic, financial services, retail sales press. The company works with individuals and legal entities (government and commercial) persons.

Brief historical background

Sending parcels from Latvia and to its territory

The Post of the Republic of Latvia provides its customers with the opportunity to send several types of items:

  1. Unregistered - those that cannot be tracked and that are delivered to the mailboxes of recipients: postcards, letters, parcels and packages marked “M” containing printed materials.
  2. Registered – those that are subject to tracking and for which a receipt is issued: postcards, letters, parcels and packages marked “M” with printed materials, postal parcels with industrial, household and other goods that have / do not have commercial value.
  3. Insured - those that can be tracked and for which a special document has been issued on insurance against loss, damage, theft: letters, small packages and postal parcels with items that have/do not have commercial value.

Latvian Post provides the opportunity to send items at any post office. Anyone planning to send a parcel abroad must fill out form CP71 (if the addressee is in one of the EU countries) or form CP72 (if the addressee is outside the European Union).

To speed up the passage customs control each form must be completed in three languages: English, French and the official language of the state where the parcel is sent.

To register the shipment, you must have identification with you: passport, driver's license.

To speed up the processing of an international parcel, each sender has the opportunity to use free system self-service Mans Pasts. By registering on this site you can:

  • find in in electronic format documents that are necessary for processing a parcel abroad, fill out and print them;
  • enter and save personal data about yourself, which will be used when processing subsequent postal items;
  • make payment online.

Print documents for registration international shipments should be on white A4 paper. Filled out forms and self-packaged parcels must be handed over out of turn to the operator of any post office.

Many people are interested in the question of how long it takes to send a parcel from Latvia to Russia or any other country. Senders have the opportunity to issue a class A (priority) or class B (economy) parcel.

Domestic priority packages are delivered within 1-3 business days. International priority shipments may take approximately 7-11 business days to arrive. They are transported mainly by air carriers. Economy shipments take longer.

Send a parcel to Riga (or another Latvian city) from Russian Federation(for example, from Moscow) can be done through Russian Post. The sender will need to fill out the customs declaration in triplicate in letters of the Latin alphabet.

If the value of the parcel is up to 300 SDR (special drawing rights), form CN22 is filled out, and if above 300 SDR, form CN23 is filled out. The form indicates the category of the shipment, lists the names of the items contained in the parcel and their value. You can arrange your shipment either directly at the post office or online.

To send a letter to Latvia, you need to fill out the envelope correctly. The recipient's details are indicated on the front side in Latvian:

  • first and last name;
  • Street, house, flat;
  • city, zip code;
  • a country.

Many foreign senders are faced with a situation where the Latvian recipient's zip code is unknown. How to send a parcel to Latvia

As in Latvian post offices, in other countries, including the Russian Federation, you can choose several methods for delivering parcels and other items. So, for example, “ Post office” allows you to make regular, expedited and courier (express) shipments.

Express courier services are considered the most convenient method of delivery abroad. Couriers pick up parcels in places convenient for senders and deliver them to recipients at the specified addresses. Such parcels are registered and can be tracked if you know the track number. Express delivery to Latvia often lasts from 4 to 7 working days.

Unregistered shipments in the Republic of Latvia are delivered to the address indicated in the “Recipient” column. If they cannot fit into mailboxes, postal employees leave package notices with information about where they can be picked up.

If the recipient does not apply for the shipment within 5 business days, he will be sent a second notification. If no one comes for the parcel within 30 days from the date of issuing the first notification to the addressee, it will be returned to the sender.

Registered and insured items are delivered to the specified addresses and handed over personally to the recipients. If the addressee was absent when the postman arrived, he will be left with a notification about the parcel, with which he must contact the specified post office.

If the recipient does not pick up the parcel after 7 working days, he will be sent a second notification, and 30 working days from the date of sending the first notification, a return will be issued to the sender's address.

To receive an unregistered shipment, you only need a postal notification. To pick up a registered or insured shipment, you need to present a notification to the post office employee (or tell them the tracking number of the package) and your passport.

With a driver's license you can only receive a parcel that is valued at less than 150 euros.

If the parcel is sent to a legal entity, one of its representatives can receive it. You will need to present your passport and a power of attorney to receive mail, certified by the head of the organization.

How to track a parcel

Tracking postal items is a convenient tool for monitoring their movement. To do this, you need to know the tracking number of the parcel. It is assigned to each registered and insured shipment when it is processed by the sender at the post office.

There are several ways to track a parcel from Latvia:

  • on the Latvian Post website;
  • on the Mans Pasts website;
  • at specialized intermediary electronic resources: Where is the parcel, Postal Ninja, 1trak.ru and others;
  • through the “Parcels” application installed on your smartphone (you can download it from the AppStore and GooglePlay).

To find out the current status of a postal item, you must enter its track number in the appropriate field.

Types of track numbers

The track number format for international mail from Latvia is uniform. Each number consists of 13 characters:

  • if the shipment weighs up to 2 kg, the track number begins with the letter R: for example, RA123456785LV;
  • for parcels weighing from 2 to 20 kg, track numbers begin with the letter C: CD123456785LV;
  • Express delivery is indicated by the first letter E in the track number: EE123456785LV.

The numbers for each shipment are unique. The track number of “Latvian Post” at the end contains two Latin letters – LV. They indicate the country from whose territory the parcel was sent.

Russian Post together with Hong Kong Post in partnership with Logistics company Cainiao (part of the Alibaba holding) implemented New Product SRM (“Simplified Registered Mail” - “simple registered package”). The new kind parcels was launched to replace unregistered small packages and combines the convenience of the postal channel and the transparency of express delivery.
The new product allows consumers to track their orders from the AliExpress marketplace using three main statuses, which give the recipient the opportunity to see the actual date of dispatch of his order, as well as the date of arrival at the post office in Russia. The sender, in addition to these statuses, has the ability to track the fact that the buyer has received the goods, which is a condition for him to receive money for the sent order.
“The current delivery time for registered traffic and SRM service is 6-10 days from Hong Kong, from the moment the order is placed at the post office. At the same time, the SRM service will provide transparent delivery, which is necessary for both the recipient and the sender,” emphasizes the deputy general director Russian Post for parcel business and express delivery Sergey Malyshev.
The new product is available for delivery of purchases from the AliExpress marketplace with a small average receipt (from 2 US dollars and above), which were previously often sent as unregistered items. Neither online stores, nor postal administrations, nor clients had the opportunity to track such items along their route.
“In most cases, such shipments were sent by sea or by land through intermediary transit countries, which negatively affected delivery times and also significantly increased the risk of loss or damage to shipments.
