And sometimes I see a beautifully shaped vase in a store, but I feel that something is missing in it... I paint it... and I begin to love this vase. But you can paint any glass objects: vases, bottles, candlesticks, lamps, doors, windows, mugs, glasses, glasses, decanters, etc. It all depends on your imagination.

Well, now about how to do it. I will tell you the basics of this creativity, and then you can experiment. Glass objects can be bought in a store or looked for at home.

Materials for work:
● Paper, pencil
● Glass marker
● Brushes (preferably synthetic, the most commonly used is No. 1, but this depends on the fineness of the drawing)
● Paints on glass, outline on glass (I use IDEA Vetro paints)
● Solvent for paints. If you use IDEA paints, then buy thinner from the same company. Personally, I chose for myself a cheaper substitute, Solvent 646; it can be bought at any construction market, or in repair products. For ease of use, I poured it into a jar with a convenient spout (mine is an airbrush paint jar, but you can find any other). Please note that the solvent evaporates quickly.
● Cotton swabs, toothpicks, cloth
● Stationery knife, scissors
● Double-sided tape
● Palette, foil. To avoid having to wash your palette every time, use foil. To be honest, I spied this advice
from some other craftswoman. You can also use a bag or a transparent file, which you don’t mind throwing away later.

Object and drawing
First you need to decide on the object and the drawing. Usually I draw a sketch for a specific vase.
If the design is not very complex, then you can draw it directly on the glass with special glass markers or, even better, with a phantom marker (for example, JAVANA-Sublimatstift), which is easily washed off with water. In this case, I drew a sketch in color to decide on color scheme, and select the appropriate contour. I chose a gold outline. Before starting work, it is necessary to degrease the surface of the vase - wash with soap and warm water or wipe with alcohol.
To apply the design to the vase, I placed the sketch inside and attached it to the vase with double-sided tape.
You can pre-wet it so that the paper sticks to the surface. If the shape of the vase does not allow this, you can use carbon paper, or, as I wrote above, draw on the glass with a marker.


Drawing an outline
Now we draw an outline and trace the sketch. It’s quite difficult to work with a contour; you have to draw the line very carefully
and do not break it off in the middle of the line. It is better to cut off in the corners of the picture. It happens that it is necessary to rotate the surface to be painted in order to continue the line, otherwise it is inconvenient. Then you will have to interrupt the line, and then carefully start from the same place, but you need to make sure that there is no sagging of paint. It's better to squeeze a little outline onto the paper first.
The contour dries out quickly, so you need to periodically clean the tube spout in this way. Remove excess paint from the surface with a toothpick. The hand should draw confidently and firmly. Then it will turn out beautiful. If you are afraid, the lines will be shaky. Using a toothpick, you can straighten the outline a little and even move it, but you need to do this right away, when it dries, nothing will work. If you have smeared part of the drawing or the outline is not at all beautiful, then you need to wait until the outline dries and then cut out the fragment with a stationery knife.
When the entire drawing is circled, peel off the sketch.
On the corners of the vase, I completed the design with a marker and outlined it.


Working with paint
Now comes the fun part. After the outline has dried, we begin to work with paint. The paint does not always lie smoothly; you need to apply it carefully. First, drip paint onto the area you are going to paint, as if stretching this drop over the area, carefully adding the next drop. If there is a lot of paint, unsightly sagging will form, so don’t rush. We must try not to go into the outline, but paint it so that unpainted areas are not visible in the light. This is especially important if you are painting a candlestick or lamp.
Make sure that workplace well lit, then it will be easier to see shortcomings in the work.
If you smeared the paint, or drove into the contour, then it can be washed off with a solvent.
Make sure that no dust sticks or bubbles form. I usually drive the bubbles into the corner of the fragment,
and they burst on their own, you can help them burst with a needle. Dust is more problematic, all the hairs are stuck
and it is better to remove dust particles immediately during work.
Apply paint especially carefully when moving to another plane of the vase.


Final stage
The vase is almost ready. We eliminate all shortcomings.
I decided to decorate the vase with a gold texture. And with a piece of sponge with gold paint I went over some places in the drawing. Thus, the drawing became more interesting. I completed the outline of the curls. Somewhere you can correct the contour, apply it again on top. Just make sure you don’t end up with an ugly multi-layer ladder.

Once the painting is completed, the piece should sit for approximately two hours to allow the image to dry thoroughly. The glass vase is dried in the oven at 180 degrees for 20 minutes. Then wait for the vase to cool in the oven. After this, it is washed and varnished (colorless).
As a result, you will be able to create a truly luxurious item that will bring you joy or will be an excellent gift for family and friends.

You can draw contours not only in point technique— in combination with stained glass paints, hand-painted vases can imitate stained glass.

You will need: degreaser, cotton pads and swabs, contours, stained glass paints, a natural brush, as well as an auxiliary sketch, printed or drawn with your own hands (if necessary).

2. Using silveroutliner, transfer the drawing onto paper. Gradually outline small areas of the pattern with an outliner, while holdingoutlinerperpendicular and draw fairly voluminous lines. Let the paint dry completely.

3. Pour some outliner paint into a small container. Paint over individual parts of the composition with this paint, as shown in the photo. Apply a large enough amount of paint so that it flows slightly towards the middle of the wide line you are drawing, then blend the paint. Let the paint dry overnight.

4. Carefully remove the design from the paper. This will be much easier if you place the patterned paper face down and carefully peel off the tracing paper. After this, do not touch the pattern for several minutes.

5. Place the pattern face down on the work surface and, placing the bottle on it, “wrap” it with the mesh from the outliner. Cut off the excess pattern. Decorate the neck of the bottle in a similar way. If you are going to use cork, paint it with metallic silver paint.

Advice: outliner, intended for applying the pattern, must be thick enough. A pattern made from liquid liner will tear when removed from the paper. 3. We paint the parts without tape, going over it. This is necessary to ensure that the edges of the picture are neat.
4. We are waiting for the paint to dry. At this time, it is better to remove the vase to avoid accidental touches and smudging of the paint. Each paint dries differently, read the directions on the paint package.

With this technique, you can achieve a wide variety of patterns from parallel lines to various intersections. You can also cut out various geometric shapes and stick them on the surface of the object to be decorated. Do not apply a thick layer of acrylic and stained glass paint to the surface, as this may cause smudges.

For the first work, I do not recommend choosing rounded shapes; they are more difficult to work with. Faceted vases work better. We work with one edge, wait for it to dry completely and move on to the next. The easiest way to work will be with spray paint. It is applied in an even layer and the spray paint dries very quickly. Concerning stained glass paints, their drying time can be significantly reduced. To do this, just put the painted vase in the oven for 15 minutes at 150 degrees.

This technique came to us from antiquity. A distinctive feature of pique painting is the size of the dots, the spacing between them, the combination and color scheme.

Drawing technique:

• Degrease the glass surface with alcohol.
• Apply the outline with a dotted touch.

If you are a beginner artist, you can draw a sketch of your drawing on a piece of paper and attach it from the inside.

You can also use ready-made sketches by downloading your favorite picture from the Internet. Before applying the outline to the vase, test it on a piece of paper. This is done in order to feel its thickness. Only then proceed to drawing on the vase.

If you go beyond the line, you can quickly correct the defect before the contour dries out. Wipe off with cotton wool and alcohol and continue working. Consider the transparency of the vase; place the design on one side or at different levels.

This is necessary so that the image does not overlap. Try to maintain the same spacing between dots.

I used 2 types of fills in my work: Marabu and Decola. They are on different bases and behave differently in their work. Decola paint came in a water-based tube. And Marabu is alcohol-based in a jar and needs to be applied with a brush. It is more liquid and can be mixed to create different shades. Decola paint cannot be mixed, so shades and transitions in one contour are more difficult to create with this material. Color transitions can be accomplished by breaking one contour into smaller ones.

Painted floor rainbow vase

Do not leave voids in the contours when painting and make sure that the contours are closed. This is done so that the paint does not leak. I would recommend starting with faceted vases as they are the easiest to work with. If you do get to work with a round vase, then try to apply the fill in a thin layer to avoid paint leakage.

Vase decor with fabric and ribbons

You will need:

• ribbons;
• lace;
• textile;
• glue.

Decoration materials can be of all kinds. The only limitations may be the size of the bottle and your imagination.

Decor of vases with beads

You will need:

• glue or glue gun;
• beads strung on a thread or individual beads.

You can replace the beads with more natural materials: cereals, watermelon seeds, coffee beans. You can also use pasta, which can be painted with spray paint.
