Institute " graduate School management” (GSOM SPbSU) is a structural subdivision of St. Petersburg State University.

GSOM SPbU implements a full range of degree programs in the field of management: undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, Executive MBA (management program), as well as corporate advanced training programs. All of them are developed and implemented (many on English language) in collaboration with world leaders in business education.

Today, the Graduate School of Management at St Petersburg University is a unique model of a successful Russian business school. 20 years of creation

– When you created a school in 1993, how did you manage to transfer it to Russian soil, and even in such a difficult period Russian history, a model of a foreign business school?

Yes, there were difficulties. I'll give you an example. In 1999, we opened Russia's first English-language master's program in management in the European ECTS standard - the program " international Business(Master in International Business, MIB)". Many probably no longer remember that in the 1990s teaching had to be conducted only in Russian. We were able to obtain permission from the Ministry of Education to conduct an experiment at St. Petersburg University. And this experiment was a success. Today, all master's programs are implemented only in English, which allows us to easily accept students from all over the world. And the first master's program became " calling card» GSOM SPbGU.

– Please tell us about the teachers of GSOM SPbU.

The school started with thirty-three students and four full-time teachers. Today, GSOM SPbU has 64 full-time teachers. More than 90% of our teachers have completed training and internships at leading foreign business schools. Teachers from other faculties of St Petersburg University and leading Russian and foreign business schools are involved in the implementation of educational programs.

– Practices are also taught in all educational programs. For example, Ruslan Belyaev, the branch manager of ZAO Citibank in St. Petersburg, is a lecturer in the Department of Finance and Accounting. – 2012 was rich in achievements. I want to mention only two of them. Obtaining international institutional accreditation EQUIS. European Quality Improvement System - leading international system assessment of the quality of business schools, established by the European Foundation for Management Development. Thus, we became the first and currently the only business school in the entire post-Soviet space awarded EQUIS accreditation. And this means that Russian business education will reach the international level and be able to compete with the world's leading business schools.

– One of the key qualities of a modern manager is strong leadership qualities. – Why was Andrey Kostin chosen as the dean of GSOM SPbU?

– Andrey Leonidovich Kostin has been a member of the Board of Trustees of GSOM SPbU since 2006, since May 2012 he has been a professor at the Department of Finance and Accounting at SPbU, since December 2012 he has been a dean of GSOM SPbU.

The election of Andrey Kostin as dean is an important stage in the development of GSOM SPbU. Story

In 1993, the Faculty of Management was opened at St. Petersburg State University - the first business school in Russia, which is a university faculty. Initially, 33 undergraduate students studied at the faculty, and 4 teachers were on the staff. The first dean of the school was Professor Yu. V. Pashkus, a well-known Russian scientist in the field of financial management.

In 2007, by order of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Graduate School of Management was established on the basis of the Faculty of Management. The school was established as part of the national project "Education" as one of two business schools. The second school listed in the program is Skolkovo. The school also included duplicate structural units- Special faculty for retraining personnel in management and research institutes of management. In 1996, V. S. Katkalo was appointed dean of the GSOM. Under his leadership, GSOM received international accreditations EQUIS, EPAS and AMBA, became the only representative of Russia in the global alliances of leading business schools CEMS and PIM. In 2010, V. S. Katkalo left this post and took the position of vice-rector in the areas of "geology" and "management", the duties of the dean were temporarily assigned to S. P. Kushch. In 2012, A. L. Kostin, Chairman of the Board of VTB Bank, was elected Dean of the GSOM.

Since 2013, GSOM has been included in the rating of the Financial Times business newspaper (the rating of Master in Management programs and the rating of business schools in Europe). Accreditations and international relations

Two GSOM degree programs have international accreditations: Executive MBA - AMBA and Bachelor's degree - EPAS. On May 18, 2011, at a meeting of the EFMD Accreditation Council, it was decided to grant EPAS accreditation for a period of 5 years to the undergraduate program in Management.

GSOM SPbU is the only representative of Russia in a number of associations of the world's leading business schools: the Global Alliance in Management Education - CEMS - and the "Partnership in International Management" - PIM - which accept only one school per country. CEMS is a partnership, but membership in the organization actually involves accreditation master's programs.
